Summary: The SAP Functional Solution Architect will play a crucial role in the Discovery Phase of a significant SAP ECC to S/4HANA migration at a UK university. This position requires extensive knowledge of SAP systems, particularly in Finance and HR, to evaluate current processes and guide architectural decisions. The role demands strong stakeholder engagement and the ability to provide strategic recommendations throughout the migration process. The successful candidate will work closely with internal teams to ensure alignment with future-state architecture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the evaluation of current SAP ECC business processes (Finance and HR), identifying manual workarounds, inefficiencies, and customisations.
- Map existing processes and functionality to S/4HANA equivalents, including SuccessFactors for HR.
- Assess the complexity and viability of migrating custom code and components to S/4HANA.
- Provide expert input on deployment options (Greenfield vs Brownfield) and their implications.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand and challenge business needs, ensuring alignment with future-state architecture.
- Work closely with the internal SAP team and Business Architect to shape the migration roadmap.
- Deliver high-level recommendations and architectural guidance by Month 3, with a comprehensive view of migration feasibility and effort by Month 6.
Key Skills:
- Proven experience as a SAP Solution Architect with deep expertise in SAP ECC and S/4HANA.
- Strong understanding of Finance and HR modules, including invoicing, chart of accounts, and SuccessFactors integration.
- Demonstrated ability to assess and rationalise custom code within SAP environments.
- Experience in Higher Education or Research sector (preferred).
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Ability to work on-site with HR and Finance teams as needed.
