Summary: The SAP S/4HANA FICO Functional Consultant role involves supporting a live S/4 upgrade programme for a major UK organization, focusing on finance process validation, regression testing, and functional analysis. The consultant will work across key FICO workstreams and collaborate with both business and technology teams to ensure effective testing and issue resolution. This position requires hands-on experience in a complex SAP environment and a strong understanding of finance processes within S/4HANA. The role is hybrid, with an initial contract of six months based in South Birmingham.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support SAP S/4HANA upgrade activities across Finance and Controlling workstreams
  • Lead and support regression testing across core finance processes
  • Perform functional validation, impact analysis, and defect triage activities
  • Support allocations, reporting, and Universal Ledger related finance processes
  • Work closely with business stakeholders, testing teams, and wider SAP delivery functions
  • Support SIT/UAT activities and testing governance processes
  • Collaborate with technical and offshore teams on issue resolution and remediation
  • Support process and solution discussions across impacted finance areas

Key Skills:

  • Strong understanding of SAP FICO within S/4HANA environments
  • Experience supporting finance transformation or upgrade programmes
  • Strong knowledge of finance process impacts within S/4
  • Exposure to Universal Ledger / Universal Journal concepts
  • Comfortable operating across both project delivery and hands-on functional support
  • Ability to support fast-paced delivery and testing environments
  • Strong SAP FICO functional consulting experience
  • Proven SAP S/4HANA upgrade or transformation programme exposure
  • Hands-on experience with regression testing, SIT, and UAT activities
  • Strong stakeholder management and workshop facilitation skills
  • Experience supporting finance reporting and allocations processes
  • Utilities sector experience beneficial but not essential

SAP S/4HANA FICO Functional Consultant – Utilities

Robert Half are supporting a major UK organisation on the search for an experienced SAP S/4HANA FICO Functional Consultant to support a live S/4 upgrade programme. This role will focus on supporting finance process validation, regression testing, and functional analysis activities across key FICO workstreams including allocations, reporting, and Universal Ledger impacts within S/4HANA. The position requires a hands-on functional consultant comfortable operating across both business and technology teams, supporting testing activities, finance process impacts, and issue resolution within a complex enterprise SAP environment.

Assignment Details

Initial 6 month contract

Hybrid working c 1 day in South Birmingham

Start : ASAP start c.1-2 week turnaround following offer and onboarding cheeks

Day Rate: £600-650 p/dya via FCSA Umbrella Company
