Summary: The SAP CO Consultant role involves leading a team to deliver end-to-end SAP S/4HANA solutions focused on Management Accounting (CO). The consultant will collaborate with stakeholders to translate complex requirements into compliant SAP solutions while ensuring integration with other modules. This position requires expertise in SAP Controlling processes and a strong understanding of SAP best practices. The role is hybrid, requiring two days in the office each week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead fit-to-standard workshops and translate complex business requirements into scalable SAP CO functional designs.
  • Oversee configuration and maintenance of core CO sub-modules, including Cost Centre Accounting (CCA), Profit Centre Accounting (PCA), Internal Orders, and Profitability Analysis (CO-PA).
  • Manage high-impact areas such as transition to Universal Parallel Accounting (UPA), Product Costing (CO-PC), Event-Based Production Accounting, Material Ledger (ML), and Actual Costing related month-end activities.
  • Coordinate seamless integration between SAP CO and other modules such as FI, MM, SD, and PP to ensure data integrity across the enterprise.
  • Drive process improvements by leveraging SAP Best Practices and SAP’s latest S/4HANA innovations (e.g. SAP BTP, AI/ML tools, process mining).
  • Act as a trusted advisor to business and IT leadership, communicating complex solution designs and their impact on business outcomes.
  • Ensure solution integrity across the project lifecycle, from design to go-live, and maintain consistency and cross-functional alignment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (functional, technical, data migration, integration, change management) to ensure cohesive solution delivery and business alignment.
  • Expand the Controlling practice within SAP Finance capability by being an active contributor to Pre-sales pursuits, team building and asset development activities.

Key Skills:

  • Deep functional expertise in SAP S/4HANA Controlling across sub areas- Product Costing, Cost Centre Accounting, Profit Centre Accounting, Margin Analysis, Material Ledger and Actual Costing.
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing integrated end-to-end controlling processes.
  • Strong understanding of Controlling business processes and SAP S/4HANA capabilities, innovations, and best practices for both public and private cloud deployments.
  • Good understanding of key master data elements and their functional usage in driving Controlling processes in SAP S4HANA.
  • Expertise in SAP Activate Methodology and leading fit-to-standard workshops to drive adoption of standard SAP processes.
  • Minimum of 10-12 years of SAP ERP experience, with at least 5 years as an SAP Controlling Lead/ Subject Matter Expert.
  • Experience of working in different roles such as Subject Mater Expert, Advisory, Functional Solutioning, Pre Sales etc.
  • Completed at least 2-3 full lifecycle S/4HANA implementations (greenfield or brownfield) across various deployment models (either On-premise, private cloud or public cloud).
  • Proven track record in leading the design and delivery of complex business process in Controlling leveraging S4HANA solution capabilities, balancing design quality, project practicality, and business outcomes.
  • Experience in leading customer workshops, defining functional business requirements, and creating detailed functional specifications and process design documents.
  • Ability to engage with CXO-level stakeholders and translate technical details into business language and value-driven solutions.
  • Experience in guiding, mentoring, and overseeing delivery teams (onshore and offshore) to ensure high-quality solution delivery.
  • Well versed with SAP tools for process management, test management, release management etc.
  • Having a good understanding of public cloud methodology and key public cloud innovations in Controlling.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and client relationship skills, with the ability to simplify complex functional and technical concepts for diverse audiences.
