Key Responsibilities:
- Support live SAP systems and users.

Role Description
• The role is for an experienced and detail orientated SAP Basis Engineer with strong SAP BTP tooling/connectivity expertise to form part of an existing DevOps team, helping to deliver a strong pipeline of transformational and operational change while ensuring the stability, security and performance of the SAP landscape.
• SAP Basis & BTP DevOps Engineers operate, secure, run and evolve SAP platforms across on premise, cloud and hybrid environments, supporting both Business-As-Usual (BAU) operations and engineering change. This is a multi-functional role, working closely with Product Teams, Architects and Engineers to deliver business value through highly available, resilient and scalable SAP platforms.
• The role balances platform operations, automation, monitoring and incident/problem management with engineering improvements, cloud adoption, connectivity enablement and DevOps practices, following Agile delivery models such as Scrum and Kanban.
• The role holder will be involved in:
o Supporting live SAP systems and users
o Designing and implementing landscape improvements
o Enabling secure connectivity between SAP ECC/S/4HANA, SAP BTP and third party systems
o Automating and standardising operational processes
under the guidance and servant leadership of the Product Owner, Product Architect and Product Delivery Lead.
• The SAP Basis & BTP DevOps Engineer will have a deep understanding of SAP NetWeaver, SAP ECC and/or S/4HANA, SAP BTP, and hybrid connectivity patterns, using modern DevOps practices to bring development and operations together with a focus on reliability, continuous improvement and value delivery.
• Applies knowledge, skills and training to deliver the information technology solutions required to allow the business to meet its strategic and tactical goals.
• Within a business change programme, designs and delivers the preparation of technical plans and provides advice on technical aspects of system development and integration (including requests for changes, deviations from specifications, etc.).
• Works under general direction within a clear framework of accountability. Exercises substantial personal responsibility and autonomy. Uses substantial discretion in identifying and responding to complex issues and assignments as they relate to the deliverable/scope of work. The SAP Basis & BTP DevOps Engineer is a key enabler of digital finance transformation.
Core Duties
Typical duties include (but are not limited to):
Responsible for the operation, availability, performance, security and integrity of SAP landscapes, including ECC/S/4HANA, NetWeaver, SAP BTP and hybrid integrations.
Design, configure and maintain SAP BTP connectivity, including:
o SAP Cloud Connector
o SAProuter
o Secure network and certificate configurations
o Connectivity between on premise SAP systems, SAP BTP services and third party platforms.
Responsible for SAP system installations, upgrades, patches, Kernel updates, transports, and system copies across development, test and production environments.
Responsible for adhering to standards, governance and best practices set out by the Product Architects, and responsible for mitigating technical debt/risks/issues.
Responsible for being an active contributor in the DevOps team, supporting the application, resolving incidents/problems, reducing technical debt and developing new features to help enable the business through ERP.
Responsible for providing product and service direction to the Product Management Team and implement these as part of a self-organising team.
Work closely with development, integration and security teams to:
• Enable SAP BTP services and use cases
• Ensure reliable development, test and deployment pipelines
• Support cloud-enabled architectures.
• Perform SAP system installations, upgrades, enhancement packs, patches, Kernel updates, transports and system copies across development, test and production environments.
Diagnosing service delivery problems and initiating actions to maintain or improve levels of service.
Responsible for proactively driving down the volume of incident and problem tickets by addressing the root cause and/or Product knowledge gaps in the business.
Directly working with peers, business stakeholders and Product Analysts by helping refine the requirements and translating them into SAP platform, infrastructure and connectivity designs.
Responsible, alongside other Product Engineers, producing cross module designs which are complementary of each other and promote continuity of knowledge across the team.
Experienced with process frameworks like ITIL, Prince2 and Agile and have a good understanding of an efficient Software Development Lifecycle.

Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications
Knowledge:
• Proven track record supporting and evolving SAP landscapes for medium to large organisations, including hybrid on premise and cloud environments.
• Strong hands on experience as an SAP Basis engineer, including system administration, troubleshooting and landscape management.
• Solid understanding of:
o SAP ECC and/or S/4HANA
o SAP NetWeaver architecture
o SAP BTP architecture and services
o Hybrid integration and connectivity patterns.
• Practical experience with SAP Cloud Connector, SAProuter, certificates, network security and connectivity troubleshooting.
• Experience supporting SAP systems within DevOps and Agile delivery models.
• Strong understanding of SAP lifecycle management, transport management and environments (DEV/TEST/PROD).
• Analytical approach to problem-solving using SAP notes and SAP Help ability to use technology to solve business problems.
• In-depth understanding of an end to end SAP software development lifecycle in an agile or waterfall environment.
• Excellent communications skills (verbal and written) with the ability to tell stories, draw pictures and document what you have done so others can understand, pick up from you and learn.
• A strong understanding and appreciation of the 'consumer' perspective - you will know what they expect from IT and what they will need even before they do. We are expecting an awareness of the changing pace and individual-centric design of IT in the market place and that you'll apply these to your Product.
• An eagerness to learn enough about the product and its roadmap.
