Summary: The role of SAP ABAP Consultant involves designing and building enterprise-grade solutions on an S/4HANA landscape using ABAP 7.50. The consultant will work primarily in a hybrid model, requiring travel to the Bradford office 1-2 days bi-weekly. The position is expected to last for 6 months with potential for extension and is classified as outside IR35. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in SAP EAM/PM and API development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and build enterprise-grade solutions on an S/4HANA landscape using ABAP 7.50.
- Develop robust and secure services for mobile, Fiori, and third-party applications.
- Incorporate solution design and development, API and integration engineering, and asynchronous processing within an Agile delivery environment.
- Utilize deep functional and technical insight into SAP EAM/PM.
- Work collaboratively with business stakeholders to translate complex technical topics.
Key Skills:
- Proven experience as an ABAP Consultant with skills in ABAP 7.50, SAP EAM/PM, API development, and integration.
- Experience with OData V2/V4, RESTful services, and SAP Gateway/RAP.
- Knowledge of job scheduling, bgRFC, and event-driven architecture.
- Strong understanding of design excellence principles such as Clean Code and SOLID.
- Agile mindset with experience in Scrum or Kanban methodologies.
- Excellent communication skills for translating technical topics for business stakeholders.

Our client, a leading organisation in the region, has a contract requirement for a SAP ABAP Consultant to design and build enterprise grade solutions on an S/4HANA landscape using the ABAP-7.50 language level. The ideal candidate brings deep functional and technical insight into SAP Enterprise Asset Management/Plant Maintenance (EAM/PM) and understands how to expose robust, secure services for mobile, Fiori and third party applications. Experience with SAP Multi-resource Scheduling (MRS) is highly desirable.
Skills and Qualifications:
Essential:
You will possess proven experience as an ABAP Consultant where your previous roles have incorporated Solution Design & Development; API & Integration Engineering; Asynchronous Processing; Quality & Performance; within an Agile Delivery environment.
Skills required:-
- ABAP7.50 - new syntax, expressions, inline declarations, CDS, AMDP, ABAP RESTful Application Programming Model (RAP).
- SAPEAM/PM - deep understanding of orders, notifications, maintenance plans, measurement documents, permits, refurbishment and settlement processes.
- API development - OData V2/V4, RESTful services, BADI-based APIs, SAP Gateway/RAP behaviour definitions.
- Integration - RFC/BAPI, bgRFC queues, JSON/XML handling, HTTP frameworks, SAPBTP Integration Suite.
- Background & Real Time processing - job scheduling, bgRFC, Parallel Processing Framework, ABAP Daemon/ABAP Channels (WebSocket push), Event-Driven Architecture basics.
- Design excellence - Clean Code, SOLID, domain-driven design, reusable service-oriented architecture.
- Agile mindset - experience working in Scrum or Kanban, Jira/Azure DevOps or similar.
- Communication - Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical topics for business stakeholders; strong written documentation.
