Summary: BAE Systems is seeking a Nuclear Safety Engineer to join their Submarines team in Barrow-in-Furness for a 6-month contract. The role involves applying engineering expertise to ensure the safety and compliance of submarine systems, providing technical leadership, and guiding other engineers. Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake technical reviews and verify/sign engineering designs
  • Provide guidance and direction to engineers, supporting their development
  • Define qualification obligations for assurance hold points during build, test, and commissioning
  • Ensure Safety Cases and supporting documentation are robust, compliant, and fit for purpose
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to incorporate requirements where appropriate
  • Promote and share technical expertise, approaches, and standards across the business

Key Skills:

  • Chartered Engineer (Eng) or equivalent capability
  • Extensive experience in safety or environmental engineering, preferably in complex systems or submarine environments
  • Strong technical leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

Salary (Rate): £74.68/hr

About the Role

BAE Systems is looking for a Product Safety Engineer to join our Submarines team in Barrow. This is a highly visible role where you’ll apply your engineering expertise to ensure the safety, compliance, and effectiveness of submarine systems and components. You’ll work independently or as part of a small team, providing technical leadership and guidance, and occasionally leading other engineers.
