Summary: This role involves joining a multi-disciplinary team of Applied Physiology professionals at the Institute of Naval Medicine, focusing on providing nutrition support and applied research to enhance the health and performance of the Royal Navy and wider Ministry of Defence. The successful candidate will engage in various projects related to nutrition, exercise science, and health education, contributing to the overall mission of improving military performance. The position requires collaboration with military and civilian personnel and may involve travel within the UK and overseas. The role is full-time, with a commitment to professional development and research publication.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing expertise in nutrition and applied physiology to the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, and other Defence authorities.
  • Supporting the Defence Nutrition Advisory Service in delivering nutrition advice across the Armed Forces.
  • Leading studies and providing advice on health, nutrition, and physical performance.
  • Contributing to the development and assurance of in-unit and operational food provision.
  • Delivering nutrition education and guidance to enhance the health and performance of Armed Forces personnel.
  • Measuring and analyzing nutrition and health requirements related to military roles.
  • Providing applied physiology support to the Applied Physiology group and Environmental Medicine and Science activities.
  • Engaging with stakeholders at all levels, including senior military and civilian personnel.
  • Traveling within the UK and occasionally overseas for official duties.

Key Skills:

  • Registered Nutritionist (RNutr) status on the UK Voluntary Register of Nutritionists or registration on the Sports and Exercise Nutrition register.
  • Research experience in human and health sciences.
  • Knowledge of dietary analysis and principles of measurement.
  • Data analysis and scientific communication skills (oral and written).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills.
  • Experience in developing and delivering educational programs.
  • Understanding of military nutrition and performance standards.
