Summary: The Robotics Engineer at HoloLab will be responsible for integrating and programming a Realman Robot for waste sorting tasks, working closely with Unity developers and backend teams. This hands-on role involves building a teleoperation system that allows operators to control the robot remotely using VR headsets. The position requires expertise in robot programming and communication systems, with a focus on real-time data reporting and safety implementations. The role offers an opportunity to contribute to innovative robotics solutions aimed at environmental challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Integrate and program a Realman Robot for pick-and-place operations
  • Build the teleoperation pipeline — receive commands from our server and execute them on the robot
  • Implement real-time position reporting so operators can see robot status in VR
  • Design and tune pick trajectories for different object types
  • Work with our vision system to coordinate object detection with robot picking
  • Implement safety systems — collision detection, emergency stops, workspace boundaries
  • Log robot trajectory data for training autonomous picking models
  • Collaborate with Unity and backend developers to ensure seamless communication

Key Skills:

  • Experience programming industrial or collaborative robots
  • Proficiency in Python and/or C++
  • Understanding of robot kinematics, motion planning, and control systems
  • Experience with ROS/ROS2 or proprietary robot SDKs
  • Comfortable working with REST APIs or WebSockets for robot communication
  • Ability to work independently and solve hardware/software integration challenges
  • Experience with Realman Robotics or similar collaborative arms (nice to have)
  • Background in computer vision or pick-and-place automation (nice to have)
  • Familiarity with waste sorting, recycling, or manufacturing environments (nice to have)
  • Experience with teleoperation or remote robot control systems (nice to have)
  • Understanding of machine learning for robotics (nice to have)

Detailed Description From Employer:

About Us HoloLab is building intelligent robotic systems for waste sorting and recycling. We combine computer vision, mixed reality, and robotic automation to train robots that can identify and pick trash from conveyor belts. Our system uses Meta Quest headsets for data collection and teleoperation, with the goal of deploying fully autonomous sorting robots.

The Role We're looking for a Robotics Engineer to take ownership of our robot arm integration and teleoperation system. You'll work closely with our Unity developer and backend team to enable operators wearing VR headsets to remotely control a Realman Robot for waste sorting tasks. This is a hands-on role — you'll be programming the robot, building the control interface, and ensuring reliable communication between our server and the physical hardware.

What You'll Do

  • Integrate and program a Realman Robot for pick-and-place operations
  • Build the teleoperation pipeline — receive commands from our server and execute them on the robot
  • Implement real-time position reporting so operators can see robot status in VR
  • Design and tune pick trajectories for different object types
  • Work with our vision system to coordinate object detection with robot picking
  • Implement safety systems — collision detection, emergency stops, workspace boundaries
  • Log robot trajectory data for training autonomous picking models
  • Collaborate with Unity and backend developers to ensure seamless communication

What We're Looking For

Required:

  • Experience programming industrial or collaborative robots
  • Proficiency in Python and/or C++
  • Understanding of robot kinematics, motion planning, and control systems
  • Experience with ROS/ROS2 or proprietary robot SDKs
  • Comfortable working with REST APIs or WebSockets for robot communication
  • Ability to work independently and solve hardware/software integration challenges

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with Realman Robotics or similar collaborative arms
  • Background in computer vision or pick-and-place automation
  • Familiarity with waste sorting, recycling, or manufacturing environments
  • Experience with teleoperation or remote robot control systems
  • Understanding of machine learning for robotics
