Summary: The role of Fanuc Robot Programmer in the automotive industry involves programming and optimizing robotic systems to enhance production efficiency. The position requires expertise in robot programming, PLC integration, and maintenance within automotive manufacturing environments. The programmer will collaborate with various teams to ensure compliance with industry standards and minimal downtime. This contract position is outside IR35 and has a duration of 12 months, with the possibility of extension.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program, configure, and optimize Fanuc robots for welding, assembly, handling, and other automotive applications.
  • Develop and maintain robot software to improve cycle time, accuracy, and production efficiency.
  • Understand the robot architecture and perform hardware replacements, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance.
  • Integrate and modify PLC programs to ensure seamless communication between robots, conveyors, and automotive production equipment.
  • Support commissioning, debugging, and production trials of robotic systems on the shop floor.
  • Collaborate with production, quality, and maintenance teams to ensure smooth operation and minimal downtime.
  • Ensure compliance with automotive industry standards, safety protocols, and quality requirements (IATF 16949, ISO, etc.).

Key Skills:

  • Proven experience in Fanuc robot programming (TP programming, KAREL, iRVision preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of automotive robotic applications (welding, sealing, handling, painting, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience with PLC programming (Siemens, Allen Bradley, or equivalent).
  • Ability to read electrical/mechanical schematics and perform component replacements.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with experience in cycle time and process optimization.
  • Familiarity with safety standards in automotive automation (ANSI/RIA, OSHA).
  • Preferred experience in multi-robot integration projects within automotive plants.
  • Exposure to other industrial robots (ABB, KUKA, Yaskawa) is an advantage.
