Summary: Wrightbus is seeking a Robotics Engineer for a fixed-term contract of 3 months to operate, program, and maintain robotic welding systems in a dynamic manufacturing environment. The role involves ensuring production and quality standards are met while designing and integrating robotic systems for various manufacturing processes. The successful candidate will also be responsible for training staff and conducting maintenance on welding machines. Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop robotic systems for manufacturing processes including welding, assembly, and material handling.
- Integrate robotic systems with existing manufacturing equipment and PLCs.
- Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for new robot applications.
- Train maintenance and production staff on robotic system operation and troubleshooting.
- Operate robotic welding systems, including loading/unloading, tacking, and setting up parts.
- Input and adjust welding parameters such as voltage, amperage, wire feed rate, and travel speed.
- Conduct start-up checks, including robot alarms and manipulator integrity.
- Program, test, and debug welding programs to ensure optimal weld quality.
- Identify and select correct parts, jigs, and fixtures for welding operations.
- Fabricate complex metal assemblies from engineering drawings.
- Record job details and quantities using the company's computerized system.
- Ensure production output meets required timelines and quality benchmarks.
- Carry out operator-level maintenance on welding machines and tooling.
- Monitor and replenish consumables and report damage or faults promptly.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment in accordance with company policies.
- Complete company documentation and adhere to GDPR.
- Uphold health and safety procedures and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Skills:
- HNC/HND or equivalent in an Engineering discipline with a minimum of 2 years' relevant experience, or Level 3 Engineering qualification with 5 years relevant experience.
- Trained on robotic systems.
- Experience in an engineering environment.
- Hands-on experience operating robotic welding systems.
- Experience using assembly jigs, fixtures, and manual welding tools.
- Understanding of welding parameters and techniques.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings.

The Role:
- Robotic Operations
- Design and develop robotic systems for manufacturing processes including, welding, assembly, material handling.
- Integrate robotic systems with existing manufacturing equipment and PLCs.
- Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for new robot applications.
- Train maintenance and production staff on robotic system operation and troubleshooting
- Operate robotic welding systems, including loading/unloading, tacking, setting up parts, and handling pre-/post-process work.
- Input and adjust welding parameters such as voltage, amperage, wire feed rate, and travel speed.
- Conduct start-up checks, including robot alarms, manipulator integrity, gas flow, and extraction systems.
- Program, test, and debug welding programs to ensure optimal weld quality.
- Production & Quality
- Identify and select correct parts, jigs, and fixtures for welding operations.
- Fabricate complex metal assemblies from engineering drawings using jigs, fixtures, and manual techniques.
- Record job details and quantities using the company's computerised system.
- Operate cranes and rotators as required.
- Ensure production output meets required timelines and quality benchmarks.
- Maintenance & Safety
- Carry out operator-level maintenance on welding machines and tooling.
- Monitor and replenish consumables (nozzles, tips, coolant, anti-spatter).
- Report damage or faults with machinery or tooling promptly.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment in accordance with company policies.
- General Duties
- Complete company documentation and WMPs accurately.
- Adhere to GDPR and maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Uphold health and safety procedures, participate in training, and cooperate with workplace safety initiatives.

The Requirements:
- HNC/HND or equivalent in an Engineering discipline with a minimum of 2 years' relevant experience, or Level 3 Engineering qualification with 5 years relevant experience
