Summary: The Risk Manager role involves overseeing project risk management procedures for large-scale construction and engineering projects, ensuring effective risk controls and compliance with NEC3 and NEC4 contracts. The position requires a minimum of three days on-site attendance per week and includes responsibilities such as leading risk management processes, providing coaching to project delivery professionals, and producing insights for continuous improvement. The role is hybrid, allowing for a combination of office and remote work, and is classified as outside IR35.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement project risk management procedures and ensure effective risk controls for operational and corporate risks.
- Identify and escalate risks within the Major Programme Directorate.
- Lead management of project and programme risk across a forecast Capital Plan of circa. £125m.
- Control and assure programme and project risk allowance valued at circa. £20m.
- Coach and support approximately 34 project delivery professionals on risk, issue, and opportunity management.
- Accountable for risk, issue, and opportunity management processes and procedures for the programme and projects.
- Produce insights and reporting on project and programme risks to influence continuous improvement.
- Facilitate regular risk workshops and carry out external benchmarking on risk management best practices.
Key Skills:
- Experience managing NEC3 and ideally NEC4 forms of contract.
- Experience in large-scale construction and engineering projects.
- Strong understanding of project risk management processes.
- Ability to coach and support project delivery teams.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
- Proficient in risk management software and tools.
- UK driving licence and access to a car for site visits.
