Summary: The Investment Risk Consultant role involves overseeing and evaluating the identification, monitoring, management, and reporting of investment risks for a financial services company. The consultant will lead the Investment Risk team, ensuring effective risk management practices are in place while supporting the organization during a transition period. This position requires extensive experience in investment risk management and compliance with regulatory requirements. The role is hybrid, based in Leeds, and offers a competitive daily rate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the Investment Risk team in providing expert oversight for the identification, monitoring, management, and reporting of investment risks.
- Assess portfolio risks, liquidity, and leverage of funds within the Alternative Collective Schemes (ACS) and other investment vehicles.
- Critically assess the quality and completeness of management information produced by the first line regarding all aspects of investment risk.
- Assist the second line in evaluating the effectiveness and operation of the risk management framework and policies related to the ACS and other investment vehicles.
- Prepare an annual report to the Board Risk Committee.
Key Skills:
- Extensive experience in a technical and analytical role within the financial services sector.
- Experience managing, assessing, measuring, monitoring, and reporting on investment risk.
- Knowledge of FCA’s FUND and AIFMD requirements.
- Experience in public and private asset classes risk management.
- At least five years of experience in a risk management role at a large financial institution.
- Proficient IT skills, especially advanced spreadsheet capabilities.
- Willingness to become an expert in relevant software and tools used by the first-line risk management teams.

Purpose of the role: Oversee and evaluate the identification, monitoring, management, and reporting of investment risks carried out by the Company on behalf of the funds under its management. This oversight aims to ensure effective risk management for our customers, the market, other stakeholders, and our company.
Risk & Compliance
The Risk and Compliance teams serve as the second line of oversight within the Company. The Risk team works to ensure that effective risk management and internal controls are implemented through the risk management framework, which is essential for the firm’s decision-making process. This team provides an independent assessment of the company’s overall risk and regularly reports to both management and the Board, as well as its committees, regarding current and emerging risks. Meanwhile, the Compliance team offers support and oversight of regulatory requirements throughout the business. They deliver insights based on monitoring conducted in accordance with the plan approved by the Board Risk Committee and provide regular reports related to regulatory risks and conduct risk management.
Key Deliverables:
- Lead the Investment Risk team in providing expert oversight for the identification, monitoring, management, and reporting of investment risks. This includes assessing portfolio risks, liquidity, and leverage of funds within the Alternative Collective Schemes (ACS) and other investment vehicles.
