Summary: The Risk & Control Business Analyst role at emagine involves working within the Risk Practice to enhance risk management practices in retail banking. The position requires collaboration with Risk and Control Owners to support governance and oversight while managing control libraries and conducting Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in risk management and regulatory compliance, particularly within the UK financial services sector. This hybrid role emphasizes a proactive approach to risk culture and stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support and challenge 1LoD Risk and Control Owners on governance, oversight, and decision-making.
  • Manage and maintain the control library, ensuring proper documentation and alignment with risk frameworks.
  • Enhance the control taxonomy for consistent categorization across RCSAs.
  • Deliver RCSAs in collaboration with stakeholders, ensuring risks and controls are assessed and rated.
  • Support the development and execution of control testing plans.
  • Oversee remediation activities for ineffective or missing controls.
  • Interpret and communicate regulatory developments, updating policies and control frameworks accordingly.
  • Design and produce risk reporting and dashboards for senior stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with 2LoD and 3LoD teams for alignment in risk assessments.
  • Drive a risk-aware culture through training and best practice sharing.

Key Skills:

  • 3-5 years' experience as a Business Analyst within Risk & Control functions, preferably in a 1LoD environment.
  • Hands-on experience with RCSAs, control libraries, control testing, and issue/action tracking.
  • Solid understanding of risk taxonomies and experience in refining or implementing them.
  • Strong knowledge of the UK regulatory environment, including FCA expectations.
  • Experience in retail banking and understanding of associated non-financial risks.
  • Familiarity with the three lines of defence model and operational risk management frameworks.
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
  • A proactive, ownership-driven mindset with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
