Summary: The RF Designer role involves researching, designing, and testing advanced radio-frequency technology for integration into complex weapons systems, specifically for the UK Ministry of Defence. The successful candidate will utilize their practical experience to create rapid prototypes and collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure timely and effective design integration. This position is based at the client's headquarters in Stevenage, which is integral to missile operations and offers excellent employee amenities. Security clearance is required, and candidates must be British citizens or dual nationals with British citizenship.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research, design, and test advanced RF technology for complex weapons systems.
  • Modify and create rapid prototypes as needed.
  • Interface with stakeholders including the Datalink core team and Design Authority.
  • Ensure designs are produced promptly and integrate into various system components.
  • Perform design proving tests and trials in the onsite laboratory.

Key Skills:

  • Proven practical RF design and testing experience across a wide frequency range (30MHz to 30GHz).
  • Experience with RF components such as LNA Amplifiers, High Power Amplifiers, filters, and synthesizers.
  • Ability to design for harsh environments (EMC, vibration, thermal).
  • Excellent practical skills including soldering, fault finding, and using RF test equipment.
  • Good knowledge of digital, analogue, and power supply design.
  • Experience using RF design tools (e.g., Microwave Office).
  • Fully conversant with manufacturing techniques and design for manufacture and test.
