Summary: Our client, a partner of the UK Ministry of Defence, is looking for an experienced RF Designer to research, design, and test advanced radio-frequency technology for complex weapons systems. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders and the ability to create rapid prototypes based on practical experience. The successful candidate will be involved in design modifications and testing in a proactive team environment. Security clearance is required, and the position is based in Stevenage.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research, design, and test advanced radio-frequency technology for integration into complex weapons systems.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders such as the Datalink core team and Design Authority.
  • Make modifications and create rapid prototypes as needed.
  • Perform design proving tests and trials in the onsite laboratory.
  • Utilize excellent practical skills including soldering and fault finding.
  • Ensure designs are produced promptly and integrate into different parts of the system.

Key Skills:

  • Proven practical RF design and testing of RF circuits across a wide frequency range (30MHz to 30GHz).
  • Experience in RF design for harsh environments (EMC, vibration, thermal).
  • Excellent practical skills with RF test equipment including Spectrum Analysers and Power Meters.
  • Good knowledge of digital, analogue, and power supply design.
  • Experience using RF design tools (e.g., Microwave Office).
  • Fully conversant with manufacturing techniques and design for manufacture and test.

Salary (Rate): £75.00 per hour

Our client, a trusted partner of the UK Ministry of Defence, is seeking an experienced RF Designer to research, design, and test advanced radio-frequency technology for integration into complex weapons systems. The successful candidate will leverage their practical experience to make modifications and create rapid prototypes as needed.

Key Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will be part of a proactive team who will use their initiative and is passionate about electronic engineering. The role interfaces with various stakeholders, such as the Datalink core team, Design Authority, and other functional groups, which is managed effectively to ensure the designs are produced promptly and blend into the different parts of the system.

What do you need?:

  • Proven practical RF (component level) design and testing of RF circuits across a wide frequency range (e.g., 30MHz to 30GHz, including LNA Amplifier, High Power Amplifier, filter, local oscillator, synthesiser, modulator design etc)
  • RF design experience for harsh environments (EMC, vibration, thermal)
  • Ability to perform design proving tests and trials in the onsite laboratory
  • Excellent practical skills including soldering, fault finding and the use of RF test equipment including Spectrum Analysers, Power Meters & VNAs
  • Good knowledge of digital, analogue, and power supply design
  • Experience using RF design tools (e.g., Microwave Office), including layout.
  • Fully conversant with manufacturing techniques and capabilities, including design for manufacture and test.
