Summary: The role of Research Group Administrator is a temporary position focused on providing essential administrative support to Principal Investigators within the Department of Materials Science and Metallurgy. Applications are invited for a Maternity Cover Research Group Administrator within the Department of Materials Science and Metallurgy. This is an exciting and varied post primarily dedicated to supporting the departments Principal Investigators (PI) with a secretarial service covering a variety of areas such as: research grant applications, diary management, arranging travel (with associated risk assessments) or conferences, maintaining research group records, collating and preparing staff timesheets and budget monitoring. The Research Group Administrator is a key staff member ensuring PI's receive the operational support they need to produce world class research. The postholder will be supported by, and liaise with, several other members of the Department's administrative team, such as Finance, Grants, HR, Procurement and the other Research Group Administrators.

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • An ability to handle confidential information in line with data protection requirements.
  • Familiarity and confidence with digital administrative systems (Word, Outlook, Excel)
  • Initiative and the ability to work independently
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail

Temporary cover: This post is fixed-term for 1 years or the return of the post holder, whichever is the earlier.
