Summary: The Research Fellow in Chemoinformatics at the Future Medicines Institute (FMI) will focus on developing computational drug discovery techniques to advance research in Life and Health Sciences. This role requires collaboration across project teams, utilizing advanced computational methods and software to drive innovative solutions. The successful candidate will be a dynamic self-starter with a strong background in relevant fields and excellent interpersonal skills. The position is part of a new research hub aimed at enhancing research and development opportunities in Northern Ireland.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop computational drug discovery techniques for FMI.
  • Utilize cutting-edge computational methods including structure/ligand-based design, AI/ML, virtual screening, and data-mining.
  • Collaborate across project teams to advance research programs.
  • Implement key R and/or Python packages and utilize CADD software.
  • Supervise lab projects and contribute to a dynamic team environment.

Key Skills:

  • Degree in chemistry, biochemistry, computer science, or mathematics.
  • Relevant PhD or nearing completion.
  • Significant research experience in Chemoinformatics.
  • Expertise in HPC infrastructure/Linux systems.
  • Proficient in CADD software (e.g., MOE or Schrodinger).
  • Track record of publications relevant to career stage.
  • Experience in lab project supervision.
