About The Role

This role provides a unique opportunity for the successful candidate to undertake scientific research in battery sensing, development, characterisation and modelling. The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary, multi-institutional, collaboration funded by the Faraday Institution. Academic partners in the project include Imperial College, London and the universities of Birmingham, Oxford, Southampton, Portsmouth, Bristol.

About You

You will need a PhD in a relevant subject, and experience of the theory and practice of sensor development, battery modelling and testing. You will ideally have experience of battery development including the experimental assessment / characterisation of battery and/or novel sensing technologies. You will have excellent communication skills, be flexible, and be able to work independently and as part of a research team with diverse skills and backgrounds. You will have undertaken complimentary research or development in one or more of the above areas and be able to demonstrate your capability through appropriate academic experience/publication.

PhD Status

If you are near submission of your PhD, or have not yet had it conferred, any offers of employment will be made at Research Assistant level, at the highest spinal point of pay grade 5 (£34,610 per annum). Upon receipt of evidence confirming the successful award of your PhD, you will be promoted to Research Fellow , at the lowest spinal point of grade 6 (£35,608 per annum).
