Research Associate in AI and Machine LearningDepartment/School: School of Computing, Engineering and Intelligent SystemsCampus: Derry ~ Londonderry campusSalary: 32,314 - 40,269 per annumDuration: Fixed-term until 30th November 2025Closing Date: 31st October 2024Reference Number: 031202- ABOUT US -We are a university with a national and international reputation for excellence, innovation and regional engagement, making a major contribution to the economic, social and cultural development of Northern Ireland.Our core business activities are teaching and learning, widening access to education, research and innovation and technology and knowledge transfer.- THE ROLE -The AI-EPOCMON team at Intelligent Systems Research Centre (ISRC) is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Associate with expertise in AI and machine learning to contribute to an innovative project aimed at developing a cutting-edge, AI-driven, low-cost, multianalyte point-of-care (POC) platform for detecting systemic therapeutic concentrations in biofluids.The project will focus on showcasing the platform s ability to measure anti-epileptic drug levels in patients with epilepsy. This interdisciplinary initiative combines advanced AI techniques with state-of-the-art sensor technologies, including surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) and electrochemical detection, to analyse complex multimodal data obtained from patients.Collaborating with partners at Dublin City University (IR), Trinity College Dublin (IR), and Texas A&M University (US), the post holder will be responsible for developing software that incorporates deep learning and evolutionary optimization algorithms to tackle key challenges in processing medical data. They will contribute to planning research, managing and analysing data, and developing experimental technologies and real-time AI prototypes.We may create a 12-month waiting list for same or similar roles within the Department / Faculty.
