Liverpool John Moores University have been awarded funding to support and collaborate with Liverpool City Council to further knowledge and practice within the field of Construction Environmental Impact, to strive for Net Zero site construction and enhance the City of Liverpool and its economy. LJMU supports the design of buildings and structures by quantifying potential waste and incorporating biomaterials using locally available resources, leveraging its expertise in engineering characterisation of construction materials, on-site and lab-based testing, computational modelling, and project sustainability evaluation with carbon tools.

You will be self-motivated with a proven track record on engineering knowledge on building and infrastructure development needs aligned with SDGs and experienced on working in a team environment, able to raise the profile and promoting the activities of the project. You will also collect data on carbon accounting, analyse supply chains for waste material use, and identify carbon hotspots in projects. A key output is developing a simple, spreadsheet-based carbon accounting system for alternative materials, suitable for developers and planners, that also highlights benefits like better air quality and insulation.
