Summary: The Repair Surveyor / Building Surveyor role involves managing reactive repairs and maintenance for a local authority's housing stock on a six-month contract. Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake property inspections related to reactive repairs, maintenance, damp, and other building issues.
  • Respond promptly to repair requests and manage cases from initiation through resolution.
  • Split time between office-based duties (reporting, coordination) and site visits within the district.
  • Share duty roles fairly with other team members to ensure balanced workload distribution.
  • Liaise with contractors, tenants, and internal stakeholders as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, recommendations, and completed works.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant health & safety standards.

Key Skills:

  • Previous experience working as a Repair Surveyor or Building Surveyor within a local authority or housing association setting.
  • Strong background in reactive repairs and maintenance for residential properties (HRA focus).
  • Experience in commercial surveying is advantageous but not essential.
  • Ability to work predominantly from the office (minimum three days per week), with flexibility for additional days as needed.
  • Full UK driving license required; willingness to travel across the district for site visits.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
