Summary: The z/OS Systems Programmer (OPS/MVS & REXX Expert) role is focused on maintaining and enhancing complex z/OS systems within IBM mainframe environments. The position requires expertise in OPS/MVS automation and REXX scripting, with responsibilities including system support, troubleshooting, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. Key Responsibilities:
- Manage, maintain, and support z/OS operating system components.
- Develop and optimize REXX scripts for automation and operational efficiency.
- Administer and enhance OPS/MVS automation rules, processes, and integrations.
- Support IPL activities, system recovery, and performance tuning.
- Troubleshoot complex issues related to automation, system logs, RACF, JES2, SDSF, VTAM, TCP/IP, and other z/OS tools.
- Work with cross-functional teams (Storage, Security, Batch Operations, DB2, CICS, Network).
- Provide documentation, incident resolution, and 24x7 support (as needed).
- Participate in upgrades, patching, and modernization initiatives.
Key Skills:
- 7+ years of hands-on experience as a z/OS Systems Programmer.
- Strong expertise in:
- OPS/MVS (CA OPS/MVS automation)
- REXX scripting
- z/OS subsystems: JES2, RACF, SMP/E, TSO/ISPF
- Deep troubleshooting knowledge of system logs, automation triggers, and message handling.
- Experience with system monitoring, auto-operations, scheduling tools, and message automation frameworks.
- Ability to tune system performance and handle complex IPL/recovery tasks.
- Excellent communication and remote collaboration skills.
