Summary: The Workday Functional Consultant role involves providing expert configuration and support for Workday's HCM, Time & Absence, and Payroll modules. The consultant will leverage their knowledge of Workday functionalities to optimize processes and resolve issues while collaborating with the Tier 1 support team. A strong understanding of integrations and foundational HCM principles is essential for success in this position. The role is fully remote, allowing for flexibility in work arrangements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide functional support and recommendations to the Tier 1 Team for issue resolution and process optimization.
- Design and build Calculated Fields and Custom Reports.
- Configure Time-Off Plans, Leave of Absence, and Time Tracking.
- Support Payroll processing and configuration of Earnings, Deductions, and Payment Election Rules.
- Translate complex business requirements into effective Workday solutions.
- Utilize strong analytical and problem-solving skills to enhance Workday functionalities.
Key Skills:
- Workday PRO Certification in relevant tracks preferred.
- Strong understanding of integrations (EIBs, Core Connectors, Public APIs).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Hands-on Workday configuration experience across multiple functional areas.
- Knowledge of Workday APIs related to Absence and Time Tracking.
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.

HCM Functional Responsibilities
- Strong understanding of foundational HCM principles, including Business Processes, Reporting, Calculat
ed Fields , Security, and Notifications. - Experience with Workday Docs, Letter Templates, Questionnaires, Sur
veys , Reference Letters, and Custom Alerts. - Advanced hands-on experience with Onboarding, Change Job, and Termination business processes.
- Ability to design and build Calculated Fields and Custom Reports.
- Strong understanding of Security Group Permissions (build, maintain, and interpret).
- Provide functional support and recommendations to the Tier 1 Team for issue resolution and process optimization.
Time & Absence Functional Responsibilities
- Advanced configuration experience with Time-Off Plans (complex accruals, carryovers, shadow plans, leave integration, and time tracking).
- Hands-on configuration of Leave of Absence (balance periods, cascading/intermittent leaves, eligibility, validation rules).
- Familiarity with ancillary processes: automated leave return, balance adjustments, transfers, and Sell Time Off.
- Experience configuring Time Tracking (employee schedules, submission configurations).
- Strong reporting experience using Absence and Time Tracking data sources.
- Knowledge of Workday APIs related to Absence and Time Tracking.
Payroll Functional Responsibilities
- Solid understanding of foundational HCM principles and their integration with Payroll.
- Hands-on experience with Payroll processing (calculation, complete, and settle steps).
- Experience configuring Earnings, Deductions, Account Posting Rules, Run Categories, and Payment Election Rules.
- Familiarity with Third-Party Payroll Integrations (External Earnings, Deductions, Inputs).
- Strong knowledge of Payroll and Accounting Data Sources (Payroll Results, Journal Lines).
- Understanding of Payroll compliance requirements and their impact on Workday configuration.
- Awareness of Payroll touchpoints such as Time Tracking, Absence, HCM, Compensation, and Benefits.
Preferred Experience
- 3 5 years of hands-on Workday configuration experience across multiple functional areas.
- Prior experience supporting large-scale HRIS or ERP implementations.
- Exposure to Agile methodologies and Workday release management.
Education
- Bachelor s degree in Information Systems, Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- Workday certifications highly desirable.
