Workday Consultant - Public Sector (Functional/Technical Advisor)

Summary: The role of Workday Consultant involves providing strategic advisory support for a Public Sector client's enterprise-wide Workday implementation. The consultant will leverage both functional and technical expertise in Workday's HR, Finance, and Payroll modules to guide the client through critical initiatives and overall ERP transformation. This position requires collaboration with stakeholders to assess current processes and define future states aligned with Workday capabilities. The consultant will also assist in planning and executing data initiatives and establishing governance structures.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as a trusted advisor to the client during the early phases of their Workday implementation.
• Partner with key stakeholders to assess current business processes and help define the future-state in alignment with Workday capabilities.
• Provide guidance on functional configurations and business process design in Workday HCM, Financials, and Payroll.
• Offer technical advisory on Workday integrations, data migration strategies, reporting, and security frameworks.
• Support decision-making around foundational areas such as Chart of Accounts structure, organization setup, and position management.
• Assist with the planning and execution of data initiatives, including legacy system analysis, data mapping, and data governance strategy.
• Translate complex Workday concepts into clear, actionable recommendations tailored to a public sector environment.
• Collaborate with system integrators and internal teams to ensure alignment and readiness throughout the implementation lifecycle.
• Help establish governance structures, documentation standards, and user training approaches.

Key Skills:

• 5+ years of experience with Workday implementations or support, with hands-on expertise in at least two of the following: HCM, Finance, Payroll.
• Prior experience advising or supporting Public Sector clients is strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of Workday's functional architecture and technical components (e.g., EIBs, Workday Studio, Core Connectors).
• Experience in Chart of Accounts design, data migration planning, and business process configuration.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a consultative, collaborative manner with clients new to Workday or ERP transformations.
• Workday certifications a plus (but not required if strong relevant experience is demonstrated).
