Summary: We are looking for a detail-oriented Business Analyst to support the documentation and development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for various business processes within the State of Maine. This remote role involves collaborating with stakeholders to ensure the accuracy and usability of documented procedures, particularly in relation to the Workday implementation. Strong analytical skills and excellent writing abilities are essential for success in this position. The Business Analyst will also be responsible for maintaining high-quality standards and leading by example in the project management office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with subject matter experts (SMEs) to analyze, document, and formalize business processes into clear and concise SOPs.
- Develop process maps, workflows, and narratives to capture end-to-end procedures.
- Conduct interviews, workshops, and document reviews to gather requirements and validate process steps.
- Ensure SOPs are aligned with policy, compliance, and operational needs, and formatted to meet organizational standards.
- Maintain a version control system and manage updates or revisions as needed.
- Translate technical and complex information into reader-friendly, step-by-step guidance for non-technical audiences.
- Collaborate with QA, operations, and project teams to ensure SOPs are validated and implemented.
- Assist with the creation of supporting materials, such as training guides, checklists, job aids, and FAQs.
Key Skills:
- Workday Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Communications, Information Systems, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Technical Writer, or Documentation Specialist, preferably in a government, healthcare, or enterprise environment.
- Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining SOPs, process documentation, or procedural manuals.
- Strong understanding of business process analysis, workflow modeling, and requirements gathering.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Visio, Excel, PowerPoint)
- SharePoint, Confluence, or similar documentation repositories
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an eye for detail and clarity.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple SOPs across different stakeholders and deadlines.

The Project Management Office is looking for individuals to join the PMO as a resource to be assigned as needed. Assignments can be with any department within the state of Maine, dependent on need. You will report directly to the project management office. Your main tasks will include supporting the documentation and development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for various business processes. This role requires strong analytical skills, excellent writing abilities, and the ability to collaborate with stakeholders across departments to ensure accuracy, clarity, and usability of documented procedures. As a key contributor to the State of Maine Workday implementation it is imperative that you establish high quality standards and lead by example.
