We're working with a leading enterprise SaaS platform on this exciting opportunity. Join a fast-moving integration team delivering mission-critical connectivity — you’ll be building and optimising enterprise integrations using Software AG WebMethods (Integration Server, API Gateway, Universal Messaging, Trading Networks), handling B2B/EDI flows (AS2), and driving CI/CD deployments into cloud environments (AWS/Azure, Docker, Kubernetes). This is a hands-on contract for a pragmatic engineer who loves performance tuning, API management and solving tricky B2B edge cases.
The Role
- Develop, extend and maintain enterprise integration solutions using Software AG WebMethods components: Integration Server, API Gateway, Universal Messaging, Trading Networks, MWS and Optimize.
- Design and implement integration architectures aligned to SOA, API management and microservices patterns; create secure, scalable APIs and proxies.
- Manage B2B/EDI protocols and integrations — EDI, AS2, FTP/SFTP, HTTPS — and transform/validate XML, JSON, REST and SOAP payloads.
- Lead performance tuning, capacity planning and high-availability design; troubleshoot production incidents and optimise throughput.
- Collaborate with product and platform teams, provide technical leadership, and embed DevOps practices with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins/GitLab CI, Docker, Kubernetes) into cloud deployments.
What You'll Need
- 5+ years hands-on WebMethods development and architecture experience — deep knowledge of Integration Server and API Gateway required.
- Practical experience with Software AG Universal Messaging, Trading Networks and MWS; familiarity with Monitor/Optimize a strong plus.
- Proven B2B/EDI experience — AS2, VAN, EDI mapping/translation, and managing secure file transfer (SFTP/FTP).
- Strong API and integration skills: XML/XSD, JSON, REST, SOAP, OAuth/JWT, and experience with Axway API Gateway is advantageous.
- Experience deploying integrations to cloud platforms (AWS/Azure), using CI/CD tools (Jenkins/GitLab), containers (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
- Must hold or be eligible for UK SC security clearance; able to operate inside IR35 on umbrella contracts.
What's On Offer
- 6-month contract with competitive day rate: £600 - £650 (inside IR35) — umbrella only.
- Fully remote role with opportunities to shape architecture and influence platform-level decisions.
- Work on high-impact integration projects across the enterprise — visibility, autonomy and technical ownership.
- Collaborate with an experienced engineering team using modern DevOps tooling and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure, Docker, Kubernetes).
