Web Accessibility Specialist

Summary: The Web Accessibility Specialist is responsible for ensuring that digital content meets accessibility standards, specifically WCAG 2.2 and PDF/UA. This role involves testing and remediating documents and web content, training stakeholders on accessibility best practices, and utilizing various tools for accessibility evaluation. The position requires a strong understanding of document flow, alt text writing, and the ability to communicate effectively about accessibility issues. An associate degree is required, with a preference for a bachelor's degree and relevant certifications.

Key Responsibilities:

• Document and web accessibility testing and remediation
• Remediate PDFs, MS-Office documents, and website content to meet accessibility guidelines prior to publishing on NYSERDA web sites
• Training team on PDF remediation
• Ability to interpret logical flow and reading order of documents
• Ability to write accurate alt text and descriptions for images and graphs
• Ability to communicate accessibility best practices
• Ability to train and support internal and external stakeholders
• Other duties as assigned that contribute to the key outcomes of the Large Scale Renewables team
