Summary: The Weapons Engineer role focuses on supporting the development of courseware for the Royal Navy's new class of ship, specifically in the area of Tactical Weapons Systems. The position requires a subject matter expert to gather technical data and collaborate with courseware and media teams to ensure effective training solutions. This is a remote position with occasional travel to Reading, and it is a 6-month contract. The role requires SC clearance and is classified as inside IR35.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with the Courseware and Media Teams to identify technical data requirements for the development of Defence Systems Approach to Training (DSAT) courseware and media.
- Collaborate with content developers to contextualise training and language, ensuring correct conditions and standards are applied.
- Analyze, design, maintain, review, and produce DSAT documentation and processes for training sites and organisations.
- Interview subject matter experts to collate required data and participate in internal workshops to discuss findings.
- Identify technical data required for courseware and media development and routes to obtain that data.
- Conduct upkeep, update, and revalidation of course technical data.
Key Skills:
- Proven at sea experience as a WESM TWS in roles such as TWEO, DWEO, or TWS GP Chief/Head.
- Knowledge of technical data requirements, sources, and access methods.
- Experience in On Watch WEO duty, SCOOW duty, Planesman duty, or DCHQ duties (not essential).
- Training requirements, design, or delivery experience.
- Familiarity with DE&S/SDA.
