Summary: The VMWare vDefend Architect role is a fully remote contract position focused on providing VMware Cybersecurity expertise for a leading Government organization. The successful candidate will work within an experienced team on the design and deployment of advanced security features, specifically related to VMware vDefend and Advanced Threat Protection (ATP). Key responsibilities include assisting with policy creation, operational metrics, and threat assessment. The role is set to begin ideally in January 2026.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist deployment of the vDefend platform to support NSXi
- Assist DFW policy creation and rule migrations
- Define operating model and standardization goals
- Define/scaling policy structure and operations
- Build Common Services Policy (Macro), Infrastructure Policy (Meso), and Application Policy (Micro)
- Assist with Identity Firewall, Logging and Monitoring, and Operational Metrics
- Assist with Capacity management and Visibility
- Enable ATP and assist with policy enablement (IPS/IDS)
- Test and validate ATP features, including Malware Prevention tuning
- Conduct threat assessments and assist with logging and monitoring
- Support operational metrics and advanced use cases to detect attacks
- Assist with initial investigations and threat scenario development
- Help with product upgrades, patching, and custom dashboards
- Assist with attack lifecycle evidence chain and day two activities
Key Skills:
- Expertise in VMware technologies and Cybersecurity
- Experience with Advanced Threat Protection (ATP)
- Knowledge of firewall policy creation and management
- Ability to define operational models and standardization goals
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience with logging, monitoring, and operational metrics
- Familiarity with threat assessment and incident response
- Ability to work collaboratively in a remote team environment

We are recruiting for a VMWare Cyber SME for a leading Government organisation. The role will be fully remote for the duration of the contract. You will join an experienced VMware team who work with the business on two core workstreams, detailed below:
