Summary: The role of Senior UX Designer involves leading UX projects for a high-profile UK government programme, focusing on creating inclusive and intuitive digital experiences. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead UX projects from discovery through delivery, aligning design outcomes with business goals and user needs.
  • Create user journeys, information architecture, wireframes, and prototypes using tools such as Figma, Miro, and Dovetail.
  • Plan and facilitate workshops to gather insights, define problems, and shape design direction.
  • Conduct or guide user research, running usability tests, interviews, and surveys, then synthesise insights into clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Present work to senior stakeholders and collaborate with developers, product owners, and researchers to create seamless, end-to-end experiences.
  • Mentor junior designers and help to grow best practices in UX across the team.

Key Skills:

  • Significant UX design experience across complex digital projects or multiple sectors.
  • Ability to lead projects independently while balancing strategic thinking with attention to detail.
  • Strong communicator who can engage senior leaders and technical teams and bring research stories to life.
  • Confident running workshops, managing stakeholders, and working in agile, iterative environments.
  • Comfortable balancing user needs with organisational and technical constraints.
  • Existing SC clearance or experience working on central government projects (nice to have).
  • Familiarity with GDS service standards, accessibility best practice, or analytics.
  • Extra skills in content design, interaction design, or data analysis (nice to have).
