Summary: The role of US Data Security Protection Expert focuses on implementing new US Data Security Rules within R&D, providing support and consultation to ensure compliance with regulations. The contract is remote and extends until the end of 2026, classified as outside IR35.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implementing new US Data Security Rule across R&D.
- Supporting R&D users in their understanding of the Rule.
- Consultation to ensure R&D’s approach to the regulation is appropriate.
- Collaborating to establish guidance, communication material and AI tooling to support users.
- Providing day-to-day support for scientists and clinical teams in R&D.
- Communicating effectively with stakeholders and following up on required actions.
- Identifying and solving problems, determining when to escalate issues to senior legal input.
Key Skills:
- Pharma and data protection experience.
- Knowledge of data regulations, privacy, GDPR or similar with scientific and/or clinical acumen.
- At least 4 years proven experience implementing healthcare data regulations.
- Ability to interpret and apply complex legal and regulatory frameworks to business operations.

Exalto consulting are currently recruiting for a contract data security protection expert within US data security. This is 100% remote working, outside IR35 and initially until end of 2026.
Key Focus Areas:
- Implementing new US Data Security Rule across R&D.
- Supporting R&D users in their understanding of the Rule.
- Consultation to ensure R&D’s approach to the regulation is appropriate.
- Collaborating to establish guidance, communication material and AI tooling to support users.
In this hands-on role, you will collaborate closely with a wide range of stakeholders within R&D, Compliance & Legal, navigating competing priorities, ensuring that key deliverables are met on time and to the highest quality.
We are looking for someone who can:
- Use legal or data protection experience to rapidly understand the regulation approach to compliance.
- Adapt quickly and work flexibly across multiple activities simultaneously.
- Provide ‘hands-on’ day-to-day support for scientists and clinical teams in R&D.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders, following up on required actions to solve challenges.
- Demonstrate initiative in identifying and solving problems; understand which problems can be solved directly and which need senior legal input.
Skills and Experience
