Summary: The UI/UX Designer role is a contract position focused on creating an accessible digital experience for a state-level public sector portal. Key Responsibilities:
- Design intuitive, user-centered experiences for a public-facing web portal (desktop + mobile responsive)
- Ensure designs meet ADA and WCAG 2.x accessibility standards (Section 508 familiarity a plus)
- Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI designs aligned with accessibility best practices
- Partner with developers to ensure proper rendering across devices (iPhone vs. iPad behavior, responsive breakpoints, etc.)
- Conduct usability testing with a focus on inclusive design and accessibility validation
- Collaborate with product, engineering, and stakeholders in a public sector environment
- Support audit readiness by ensuring designs meet compliance requirements from the outset
Key Skills:
- 5+ years of UI/UX design experience, ideally in enterprise or public sector environments
- Strong hands-on experience with ADA/WCAG accessibility standards (this is critical)
- Proven experience designing for responsive web applications (desktop + mobile)
- Experience with citizen-facing or highly regulated environments (government, healthcare, financial services, etc.)
- Proficiency in tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar

This role will focus on designing a citizen-facing digital experience for a state-level portal, ensuring full compliance with accessibility standards and delivering a seamless experience across desktop and mobile devices.
