Summary: The Tutor role at Upswing is designed for individuals interested in joining a candidate pool for future tutoring opportunities. The position emphasizes the Socratic method to foster student independence and critical thinking skills through online sessions. Tutors will work remotely, with flexible hours based on student demand, primarily during evenings. Candidates should have a strong educational background and a passion for teaching.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct online tutoring sessions using Upswing's virtual classroom tools.
• Foster student independence and critical thinking through the Socratic method.
• Be available to tutor between Sunday to Thursday, 6pm - 10pm CST / 5pm - 9pm EST.
• Complete onboarding within 2-5 business days, including unpaid training.
• Respond promptly to session requests from students.

Key Skills:

• Advanced knowledge in the subject area, preferably with an undergraduate or graduate degree.
• Experience in teaching methodology or tutoring at the college level.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Access to reliable high-speed Internet and a distraction-free environment.
• Ability to tutor a minimum of 2-5 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters.
