Summary: The Test Lead role at KBR involves authoring and owning the Test Strategy for large-scale projects, ensuring adherence to testing principles and managing Test Managers. The position requires oversight of test artefact creation and representation of KBR testing in governance settings. This is a remote position offered on a 12-month contract with competitive hourly pay. Candidates must have the right to live and work in the UK.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Author and own the Test Strategy, including various testing approaches and management aspects.
  • Assist in recruitment and manage Test Managers to ensure alignment with the Test Strategy.
  • Oversee test artefact creation and assure test scripts and reports from Test Managers.
  • Represent KBR testing in governance and act as a key contact for incoming supplier technical teams.
  • Author or assure/sign off all Test Exit Reports and manage outstanding defects.
  • Provide surge resource for test artefact preparation and execution.
  • Contribute to Quality Readiness Gateways related to test artefacts.

Key Skills:

  • Experience in large-scale multi-organisational transformation programmes.
  • Ability to author and deliver test strategies and ensure adherence.
  • Experience in client-side and supplier-side testing in the public sector.
  • Capability to run multiple test phases/events across critical paths.
  • Experience working with various test organisations and stakeholders.
  • Understanding of SQL databases and optimal testing approaches for transactional software.
  • Knowledge of Restful APIs and integration testing.
  • Experience with test automation and practical applications in immature environments.
  • Familiarity with test management tools like Jira Zephyr.

Technical Staffing Resources (TSR) are the in-house agency and master vendor for KBR who are a leading global engineering, construction, and services company.KBR support the hydrocarbon and government services markets on six continents. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Author and own the Test Strategy, detailing approaches to testing that will include but not be limited to testing approaches (manual, automated, tooling), test environment management, test planning and cycle management, test resourcing, test coverage management, test data management, test defect management, test script/scenario management, test traceability, test RACI, test governance and test reporting, test transition to BAU operations.
  • Assist in recruitment of Test Managers as test team achieves full complement.
  • Manage Test Managers, ensuring they remain consistent with the principles of the Test Strategy, are being fully utilised to deliver they products on the critical path.
  • Have oversight over test artefact creation, having assurance responsibility over test scripts and scenarios created by Test managers test reports created by Test Managers
  • Represent KBR testing in internal and external Programme delivery governance and be a key point of contact for Senior Test Leads/Managers in incoming supplier technical teams, particular for the TFM, Manned Guarding and SCC deployments.
  • Author or assure/sign off all Test Exit Reports, ensuring acceptance criteria defined in the strategy for outstanding defects have met tolerances and mitigation plans are in place for open defects carried forward.
  • Be a ‘surge’ resource to undertake test artefact preparation and/or execution.
  • Provide inputs into Quality Readiness Gateways where test artefacts or outcome are critical to the gateway exit criteria.

EXPERIENCE

  • Working on large scale multi-organisational transformation Programmes
  • Authorand deliver test strategy and ensuring its consistent relevance and adherence
  • Represent Programme test function in senior governance
  • Deliver client-side and supplier-side in public sector arena
  • Run multiple test phases/events across different critical paths within same Programme
  • Work with multiple test organisations and stakeholders to deliver satisfactory test execution and exit.
  • Run test teams to deliver results.
  • Test integrated software platforms and integrated data flows with other organisations platforms
  • Risk mitigation testing with low-maturity technical integration partners
  • Work in both Agile and Waterfall delivery environments

TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE

  • Basic understanding of SQL database software (MRI Evolution preferably but not essential) and optimal test approaches to testing transactional software
  • Good understand of Restful APIs and how to optimise integration testing with other organisation’s software.
  • Test automation and practical applications in immature environments
  • Test management tool Jira Zephyr
