Role: Technical Project Manager – Data
Location: Remote (EST hours)
Contract: 6–9+ months - Only W2
Experience: 10+ years
Technical Project Manager – Data Engineering & CDP Not a generic application PM role. We need a hands-on Technical Project Manager who has actually run data platform programs — ETL, OLTP/OLAP, data marts, reporting, and analytics — not someone whose PM background is limited to typical software/application delivery.
What This Person Will Own
End-to-end delivery of data engineering programs, with primary ownership of Customer Data Platform (CDP) initiatives — planning through launch and business-impact review.
Reporting & analytics pack rollouts at scale — large-volume data, dashboards, visualization (Power BI or equivalent), alerting, and monitoring.
Data migrations and integrations — coordinating schema changes, source-to-target mapping, and cutover across systems.
Cross-functional coordination between business stakeholders, data engineering, architecture, and Data Leadership — closing gaps, resolving dependencies, keeping delivery aligned.
Delivery documentation — requirements, milestone plans, dependency maps, and architecture/technical diagrams that data engineers can actually work from.
Agile execution — sprint planning, backlog grooming, and translating technical data requirements into well-formed Jira epics and stories.
UAT ownership for data deliverables — test planning, data validation/reconciliation, issue tracking, and sign-off (not generic feature UAT).
Executive-level communication — SteerCo ownership end to end: scheduling, materials, facilitation, and driving decisions on risk and tradeoffs.
MANDATORY:
10+ years as a Technical Project/Program Manager with proven, hands-on experience running data-specific programs — ETL, OLTP, OLAP, data marts, data warehousing — not just general application project management.
MANDATORY
- Direct experience managing data integration, data cleansing, data reconciliation, and data representation/modeling work — this is a data process background, not a generic delivery background.
- Strong Agile/Scrum practitioner, comfortable running sprint ceremonies and translating data engineering work into Jira epics/stories.
- Proven experience with Customer Data Platform (CDP) programs specifically.
- Hands-on experience with data analytics and BI tooling, particularly Power BI.
- Strongly preferred: experience running a project centered on Databricks integration/migration.
- Comfortable with SaaS/technology environments and distributed teams;
- Strong executive presence and communication skills.
