Summary: The Technical Product Manager role is a 6-month contract position focused on leading product management within a technology consultancy serving the public sector. Key Responsibilities:

  • Break down product epics into well-defined, prioritised user stories
  • Write clear, testable acceptance criteria, ideally using BDD / Gherkin syntax
  • Act as a credible day-to-day partner to development teams, providing clarity and direction
  • Support and re-energise teams that may be demotivated following organisational change
  • Provide short-term guidance and hands-on support to existing team members who are not yet working in the organisation's preferred product model
  • Bring structure, consistency, and transparency to backlog management and delivery processes
  • Balance short-term delivery needs with longer-term product outcomes

Key Skills:

  • Strong experience working in SaaS environments
  • Highly numerate, with exposure to financial concepts or finance-related domains
  • Proven ability to translate complex requirements into clear, concise user stories
  • Experience writing acceptance criteria, preferably in BDD (Gherkin) format
  • Confident and credible working closely with software engineers and technical stakeholders
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a calm and pragmatic leadership style
  • Comfortable operating in environments undergoing change, integration, or post-acquisition transition

The Opportunity

We are looking to recruit a Technical Product Manager for a leading technology consultancy operating in the public sector technology space who require a Technical Product Manager to join the business at a key point of transition and growth. This role sits at the intersection of product, technology, and delivery, and will suit someone who is highly structured, technically credible, and comfortable operating in a change environment following acquisition or organisational transformation.

The Role

As Technical Product Manager, you will take ownership of translating high-level product direction into clear, practical work for engineering teams. You will play a critical role in improving ways of working, re-establishing momentum within the development function, and supporting teams as they align to the organisation's preferred product and delivery practices. You will work closely with development teams, stakeholders, and existing product staff to ensure clarity, consistency, and delivery focus, while maintaining a pragmatic, supportive approach.
