Summary: The Technical Environment Manager will oversee shared technology environments in a fast-paced e-commerce setting, ensuring stability and efficiency. The role requires assertiveness and a process-driven approach to manage changes effectively while holding developers accountable for environmental issues. The ideal candidate will work closely with the Head of Delivery to prioritize and communicate environment activities across teams. A strong theoretical understanding of various technologies is essential, although deep engineering expertise is not required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish a light but effective change management process for shared environments.
  • Work closely with the Head of Delivery to determine and communicate priorities for shared environments.
  • Ensure visibility and transparency of environment activities across teams.
  • Hold developers and technical staff accountable for fixing any environmental issues caused by their changes.
  • Maintain a high-level understanding of the technical ecosystem to manage environments effectively.

Key Skills:

  • GitOps / ArgoCD / Octopus Deploy – Managing infrastructure as code and deployment automation.
  • Configuration Management Principles – Ensuring consistency across environments.
  • Containerized API Applications (Kubernetes) – Understanding how API apps run in a cloud-native environment.
  • API Gateway & Service Mesh – Managing service-to-service communication and security.
  • On-Prem & Azure Non-Containerized Applications – Supporting legacy and cloud-based systems.
  • Experience in fast-paced IT environments, ideally within e-commerce or similar industries.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to enforce processes.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Ability to make informed decisions and ensure teams adhere to best practices.
