Key Responsibilities:

Our client is a Digital Transformation and a Cyber Security Consultancy and are currently looking for a Senior Business Analyst to join their dynamic team! They offer innovative digital and cyber security solutions to their clients who are from the public and private sectors. You'll be working on interesting large-scale Government and private sector projects.

ROLE OBJECTIVE:

We are seeking a Senior Business Analyst within the User Centred Design Practice. The senior business analyst will be an experienced practitioner who is able to work independently and at pace with a strong grasp of business analysis techniques and the ability to swiftly translate complex requirements into practical processes. They build user-centred practices in new teams and align business analysis activities with wider plans to inform service design and proposition.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to define needs, risks, and requirements through user stories and engagement activities.
  • System and Data Analysis: Investigating and modelling complex existing systems, data flows, and integrations with other government or external services.
  • Detailed Requirements Management: Translating high-level user stories and business requirements into clear, verifiable, and precise technical specifications suitable for developers and testers (e.g., API specifications, data mapping, acceptance criteria for non-functional requirements).
  • Technical Communication: Acting as the primary liaison between the business/policy stakeholders and the technical delivery team (architects, developers, DevOps).
  • Process Mapping (Technical): Mapping complex technical processes, dependencies, and rules logic.
  • Supporting Development & Testing: Working closely with the development team to clarify requirements during sprints and supporting testers in defining system integration tests (SIT) and verifying technical solution adherence.
  • Researching and analysing how businesses operate – including people, processes, data, and technology.
  • Obtaining and clearly documenting complex business and systems requirements (or user stories).
  • Engage with internal/external stakeholders through workshops and other methods of interaction to elicit business requirements aligned to business objectives.
  • Managing requirements across all project stages to ensure alignment with business goals.
  • Identifying areas for improvement and helping design better ways of working.
  • Produce high-quality artefacts—process maps, data flows, requirements, use cases—to support change readiness and strategic assurance.
  • Produce refined User Stories & wireframes that validate the needs of the users, and clearly define acceptance criteria for development, QA & UAT.
  • Collaborate with technical architects to understand technology limitations and recommend development options to meet business needs.
  • Impact Assessment: Analysing the technical impact of new policy changes or legislative requirements on the existing architecture and identifying technical risks, contribute to business cases, develop materials for governance and stakeholder engagement.
  • Lead the required implementation of identified business process re-engineering activities, providing information, and generating solutions as determined within the projects.
  • Work to government digital service standards and assure business analyst quality on projects, through digital service assessments, both as an assessor and on projects being assessed.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the cross-government business analyst communities and contribute to the development of best practice and cross-government guidance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including delivery, product management, business analysis, software development to share research insights.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

An excellent understanding of Business Analysis concepts. Skilled in translating strategy and policy into operational and technical requirements. Strong command of business analysis methodologies—scoping, user stories, gap analysis, process mapping, and functional specs. Experienced in supporting system design, procurement, and implementation. Skilled in business process re-engineering, identifying improvements and innovative service delivery solutions. Solid understanding of public sector compliance (e.g. data protection, equality duties). Excellent communicator with the ability to simplify complexity for varied audiences. The ability to map, create and maintain detailed process flows using common software applications.
