Summary: We are looking for a Technical Architect to design and deliver large-scale, cloud-based systems in a regulated environment. The role involves shaping architecture, guiding engineering teams, and ensuring compliance with technical and organizational standards. Ideal candidates will have a strong background in Java, AWS, and modern JavaScript frameworks, with experience in NHS or government settings. This position requires both technical leadership and collaboration across multiple teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and resilient architectures
  • Define architectural standards, patterns, and best practices across multiple teams
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, product, and delivery teams to ensure alignment
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership across Java-based backend systems and modern frontend stacks
  • Drive cloud-native architecture using AWS services
  • Ensure compliance with government or NHS digital standards, including security and data governance
  • Support technical decision-making and guide teams through complex architectural challenges
  • Contribute to documentation, roadmaps, and long-term technical strategy

Key Skills:

  • Strong experience as a Technical Architect or similar senior role
  • Deep expertise in Java (Spring Boot or similar frameworks)
  • Proven experience with AWS (e.g. Lambda, ECS, API Gateway, S3, RDS)
  • Solid knowledge of JavaScript and modern frontend frameworks (e.g. React, Node.js)
  • Experience designing and delivering cloud-native, microservices-based architectures
  • Previous experience working within NHS or UK government environments
  • Strong understanding of security, compliance, and data protection standards
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
