Summary: We are looking for a Technical Architect to design and deliver large-scale, cloud-based systems in a regulated environment. The role involves shaping architecture, guiding engineering teams, and ensuring compliance with technical and organizational standards. Ideal candidates will have a strong background in Java, AWS, and modern JavaScript frameworks, with experience in NHS or government settings. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and resilient architectures
- Define architectural standards, patterns, and best practices across multiple teams
- Collaborate closely with engineering, product, and delivery teams to ensure alignment
- Provide hands-on technical leadership across Java-based Back End systems and modern Front End stacks
- Drive cloud-native architecture using AWS services
- Ensure compliance with government or NHS digital standards, including security and data governance
- Support technical decision-making and guide teams through complex architectural challenges
- Contribute to documentation, roadmaps, and long-term technical strategy
Key Skills:
- Strong experience as a Technical Architect or similar senior role
- Deep expertise in Java (Spring Boot or similar frameworks)
- Proven experience with AWS (eg Lambda, ECS, API Gateway, S3, RDS)
- Solid knowledge of JavaScript and modern Front End frameworks (eg React, Node.js)
- Experience designing and delivering cloud-native, microservices-based architectures
- Previous experience working within NHS or UK government environments
- Strong understanding of security, compliance, and data protection standards
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
