Summary: The Tableau Developer role involves designing and developing interactive reports and dashboards to enhance data visualization strategies within the organization. The position requires collaboration with business stakeholders and data teams to ensure accurate data sources and effective Tableau deployments. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Tableau and a strong understanding of data governance and visualization best practices. This is a full-time position that accepts H1B/OPT candidates and offers remote work flexibility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with business stakeholders to understand their data needs and translate them into clear, actionable insights using Tableau Desktop and Server.
- Design, develop, and maintain complex Tableau dashboards and reports, utilizing best practices and advanced functionalities (LOD calcs, sets, parameters etc.).
- Develop and implement data governance strategies for Tableau deployments within the organization.
- Collaborate with data analysts and engineers to ensure clean, accurate, and up-to-date data sources for Tableau visualizations.
- Build and implement robust data connections using various data sources (databases, cloud applications, flat files).
- Optimize Tableau performance for large datasets and ensure efficient query execution.
- Stay up-to-date on the latest Tableau features and functionalities, and actively research and implement new capabilities.
- Document work processes and reports clearly and concisely.
- Participate in knowledge sharing and mentor colleagues on best practices in Tableau development.
Key Skills:
- 6+ years of demonstrably successful experience as a Tableau Developer.
- Proven track record of designing and deploying complex, interactive Tableau dashboards and reports.
- In-depth understanding of data visualization best practices and principles.
- Mastery of Tableau Desktop and Server functionalities, including advanced calculations, sets, parameters, and data blending.
- Experience with data governance methodologies and applying them within a Tableau environment (Preferred).
- Experience with connecting to various data sources (databases, cloud applications, flat files) and building robust data connections.
- Strong understanding of data modeling concepts for optimizing Tableau performance.
- Experience with automation scripting (e.g., Python, Javascript) to enhance Tableau workflows (Preferred).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and presentation skills.
- A passion for data visualization and storytelling with data.
