The Systems Architect (SA) ensures the overall system of applications, databases and infrastructures meets the technical, business and security requirements required for both current and future state. The SA considers the evolving business, functional, and technical requirements of multiple business units and stakeholders to propose and/or evaluate highly complex architectures including COTS and custom software, local and cloud hosting environments, and multiple data sources and data integration needs. This role performs several functions as part of ETF s overall modernization effort including:
Serve as a lead advisor to technical decision makers.
Design and evaluate system architecture in coordination with technical and business staff.
Evaluates solutions with consideration to available resources, development processes, and business constraints.
Coordinates and liaisons between various technical functional areas such as security, middleware, help desk, application development, data management, and business intelligence to help ensure the components of the system lead to a coherent whole.
Coordinates and liaisons across projects to ensure technical decisions made within project teams are consistent with the overall system architecture.
Conducts direct external research with outside peer organizations to evaluate systems and architectures, including implementation of like systems and uses that information to drive robust solutions within ETF.
Performs cost-benefit analysis of architectural decision like cloud hosting options, including not only direct costs but long-term implications to support, development, and customer service.
Evolves system design and framework as new components are added or system requirements change.
