Summary: The role of SOM SME involves providing expertise in Switching Order Management within the AspenTech OSI ADMS for utility operations. The position requires extensive experience in utility operations and collaboration with IT and Operations teams to optimize switching processes. The candidate will also be responsible for training and supporting control center operators in the effective use of ADMS capabilities. This is a long-term remote contract with occasional travel to Columbus, OH.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Minimum of 5 years of utility operations or distribution control center experience, with strong knowledge of switching practices, safety procedures, and distribution system operations.
  • Proven ability to work with enterprise integration tools such as EITK, along with related interfaces supporting ADMS, OMS, GIS, EMS, and other operational systems.
  • Experienced in collaborating across IT and Operations teams to implement, validate, and troubleshoot integrations, data flows, and operational usecases within complex utility environments.
  • Serve as the subjectmatter expert for Switching Order Management functions within the AspenTech OSI ADMS, including switching plan creation, validation, execution workflows, and operator support.
  • Lead the configuration, testing, and optimization of switchingrelated ADMS modules such as planned switching, isolation, restoration, and feasibility analysis.
  • Work closely with Operations, Planning, and Field organizations to ensure switching procedures align with utility safety rules, tagging practices, and operational standards.
  • Translate business and operational requirements into ADMS switching workflows, templates, device rules, and model configurations.
  • Support development and execution of switching usecases, including normal operations, planned outages, storm/restoration scenarios, and contingency switching.
  • Perform system validation, integration testing, and troubleshooting for switchingorder logic, network updates, and application behaviors across environments.
  • Collaborate with IT, GIS, and modelmanagement teams to ensure the network model and device attributes support accurate switching sequencing and energization logic.
  • Provide training, documentation, and ongoing support to control center operators, ensuring effective adoption of ADMS switching capabilities.
