Summary: The SwiftStack Engineer (Object Storage SME) role involves operational management of object storage systems, specifically SwiftStack and MinIO, within a support team. Key Responsibilities:
- Support VCP object storage platforms: SwiftStack (legacy) and MinIO (target).
- Review and execute Methods of Procedure (MOPs) developed by the Engineering organization.
- Manage MinIO cluster operations and perform routine maintenance.
- Perform code and version upgrades for MinIO and HAProxy services.
- Triage and remediate failed servers/services across MinIO and HAProxy nodes.
- Collaborate with hardware support vendors to identify faults and perform hardware replacements.
- Provide tenant/cluster support across multiple clients and applications.
- Handle and resolve trouble tickets from clients using object storage.
- Support internal Verizon applications transitioning from SwiftStack to MinIO.
Key Skills:
- 5+ years of hands-on experience as a SwiftStack SME.
- 10+ years overall IT experience, with deep operational focus.
- Expert knowledge of object storage platforms and protocols, especially:
- SwiftStack

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and highly coachable SwiftStack Engineer to join our support team of 14. This role is focused on the operational management of object storage systems specifically, SwiftStack (legacy) and MinIO (directional). The ideal candidate is technically strong, able to work independently, and comfortable receiving feedback.
This is a backfill role (please do not contact Rajesh Bhan). Candidates must have deep object storage expertise, operational troubleshooting skills, and experience working with RHEL systems and HAProxy. You ll support internal teams during a large-scale migration from SwiftStack to MinIO, and play a critical role in maintaining uptime, performance, and reliability.
