Summary: DÙIL Engineering Ltd is seeking a freelance CAD technician to support domestic-scale residential projects in Edinburgh, the Lothians, and the Borders. The role involves producing construction drawings to SER Certification standards and requires strong AutoCAD skills. The position offers flexible remote working arrangements and the potential for ongoing collaboration. Candidates should have a good understanding of residential construction methods and the ability to work independently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with domestic-scale residential projects including extensions, loft and garage conversions, internal alterations, new builds, and refurbishments.
- Produce domestic construction drawings in compliance with SER Certification standards.
- Work from engineer markups and sketches.
- Manage workload independently while maintaining good communication and attention to detail.
Key Skills:
- Strong AutoCAD experience.
- Experience producing domestic construction drawings.
- Good understanding of residential construction methods.
- Ability to work remotely and manage workload independently.
- Experience with timber frame, SIPs, ICF, and refurbishment projects is beneficial.

DÙIL Engineering Ltd are looking to add a freelance CAD technician to our growing team to assist with domestic-scale residential projects across Edinburgh, the Lothians and the Borders. Typical projects include:
- Extensions
- Loft and garage conversions
- Internal alterations
- New build homes
- Small scale housing developments,
- Conversions and refurbishment of listed buildings
We are looking for someone with:
- Strong AutoCAD experience
- Experience producing domestic construction drawings in the Scotland to SER Certification standards.
- Good understanding of residential construction methods
- Ability to work from engineer markups/sketches
- Good communication and attention to detail
- Ability to work remotely and manage workload independently
Experience with any of the following would be beneficial:
- Timber frame,
- SIPs,
- ICF,
- Existing buildings / refurbishment projects.
This would initially suit (by direct appointment) a freelance or self-employed technician on an ad hoc / overflow basis, with potential for longer-term ongoing collaboration. Flexible remote working arrangements available.
