Summary: The role of Street Lighting Engineer involves supporting Hampshire County Council in enhancing county-wide infrastructure through the development and review of street lighting designs. This is a remote position for an experienced engineer, offering a competitive hourly rate for a contract lasting over six months. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with standards and collaborating with various stakeholders throughout project phases.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and review street lighting designs and briefs from inception to implementation
  • Approve third-party lighting designs to ensure compliance with standards
  • Provide technical oversight and input throughout project phases
  • Collaborate with internal teams, consultants, and external stakeholders

Key Skills:

  • RQF Level 4 (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
  • AMILP (Associate Member of the Institute of Lighting Professionals)
  • Proven experience in street lighting design and construction for highways
  • Strong ability to review and approve external designs
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills

Salary (Rate): £45.00 hourly

We're supporting Hampshire County Council in the recruitment of an experienced Interim Street Lighting Engineer for a 6+ month contract. This is a remote role offering a competitive hourly rate and the opportunity to contribute to county-wide infrastructure improvements.

- Start on or before 1st September 2025
- 6 months (with potential extension)
- £35-£45/hour (Outside IR35)
- Fully remote (chance of ad-hoc site visit if required)
