Summary: The Statutory & Technical Accounting Manager role is a fully remote contract position focused on local government accounts, requiring a qualified accountant with extensive local authority experience. The manager will provide technical support, produce statutory accounts, and oversee a team of experienced contributors. The position also involves onboarding and developing new finance staff. The contract is for a minimum of six months and offers flexibility in working arrangements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Working and getting up to speed with local government accounts, offering technical support and producing the statutory accounts and collection fund.
  • Clean timetable, working papers.
  • Supporting a team of X5 key contributors who are all permanent and are experienced members of staff (been with the council for 10-30 years).
  • Development and onboarding for a new Finance Officer and an apprenticeship role.

Key Skills:

  • A fully qualified accountant.
  • Prior local authority experience leading on producing the statutory accounts and great technical accounting knowledge.
  • Prior local authority experience managing a team of accountants and onboarding and developing staff members.
