Key Responsibilities:
- Leading feature-by-feature migration out of a legacy Rails monolith
- Designing and delivering new microservices in Java and/or Python
- Working with product and engineering teams to map dependencies and define extraction strategy
- Driving delivery end-to-end: design, build, refactor, test, deploy
- Ensuring robust automated testing, integration and e2e coverage
- Creating documentation for API specs, architecture, deployment flows and service interactions
- Improving system performance, reliability and observability as services scale
- Helping standardise engineering processes across multiple teams
Key Skills:
- Advanced commercial experience with Java
- Strong experience with Python or Rust
- Background working with Ruby on Rails in production systems
- Modern frontend experience - React ideally
- REST or GraphQL API experience
- Experience with MySQL/Redis and distributed architecture
