Summary: The Sr. Web Developer role is a fully remote position focused on designing and implementing secure web services and applications. The candidate will leverage their expertise in Drupal, WordPress, and open-source technologies to support and enhance web-based software. This position requires technical leadership in web programming and collaboration with content experts to ensure high-quality user interfaces and security measures. The role is expected to last for over 12 months and is classified as outside IR35.
Key Responsibilities:
- Designs web services architecture and implements secure web services using appropriate technologies.
- Develops and supports website and web-based software applications.
- Utilizes and maintains Drupal and WordPress for updates and security vulnerabilities.
- Works with open-source software including Java Enterprise Edition (J2EE) and LAMP Framework.
- Designs and develops user interfaces for Internet/Intranet applications conforming to standards.
- Provides technical leadership and recommends web design methodologies and tool sets.
- Integrates web applications by designing database architecture and server scripting.
- Creates website storyboards and facilitates review sessions for navigation and design.
- Implements and maintains website security measures and monitors usage.
- Collaborates with web content experts and graphic designers for operational requirements.
- Creates multimedia applications and maintains standard content management systems.
- Possesses Texas State Agency developer experience, preferably with TxDMV.
- Utilizes Agile Management Software Development practices.

- 8 Required Drupal and Word Press expertise. Using, supporting, and patching the CMS products for updates and security vulnerabilities.
- 5 Required Open-Source software including, but not limited to, Java Enterprise Edition (J2EE), LAMP Framework (Linux, Apache/Tomcat, MySQL, PHP), Drupal, etc.
- 5 Required Designs and develops user interfaces to Internet/Intranet applications conforming to TxDMV's standards for look and feel; sets and meets expectations and features priorities throughout the development life cycle.
- 5 Required Provides technical leadership for agency's web-based programming; recommends web design methodologies and tool sets; conducts code reviews and walkthroughs.
- 5 Required Integrates web applications by designing database architecture and server scripting; studies and establishes connectivity with network systems, search engines, and information servers as required.
- 4 Required Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer information systems, management information systems, or a related field. Experience and education may be substituted for one another.
- 3 Preferred Creates website storyboards and facilitates review sessions to iteratively finalize website navigation and design.
- 3 Preferred Designs, implements, and maintains website security measures; monitors website usage and ensures security; provides non-standard business hour trouble-shooting expertise to diagnose web site and web-application production problems.
- 3 Preferred Works with web content experts and graphic designers to incorporate their work into website and determines operational, technical, and support requirements for operation and maintenance of databases, text, and graphics.
- 3 Preferred Creates multimedia applications using appropriate authoring tools; maintains and supports standard content management system.
- 2 Preferred Texas State Agency developer experience, preferably TxDMV.
- 2 Preferred Agile Management Software Development with Test Driven Development, Iterative development, Scrum pair and other agile practices and methodologies.
