Summary: The role of Project Manager focuses on overseeing security audit initiatives and ensuring compliance with industry standards within a large security team. The position requires collaboration with various stakeholders and the management of audit-related projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in security audits and compliance, along with project management experience. This is a long-term contract position based remotely in Atlanta, GA.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide project management support focused on security audits and compliance activities.
- Collaborate with internal teams including PMs, BAs, architects, developers, SMEs, and external vendors.
- Develop and maintain audit/compliance project schedules, track progress, and ensure alignment with audit policies.
- Assist teams and stakeholders during audit initiation by identifying effective strategies to meet objectives.
- Develop audit management tools during planning phases, covering risk assessment, change control, scope, and communication plans.
- Monitor performance and project status, flag risks and milestones, and ensure deliverables meet client expectations.
- Conduct lessons learned sessions and post-project reviews to ensure continuous improvement.
- Promote project management office (PMO) policies, procedures, and standards.
- Build and maintain a security audit portfolio workstream plan with milestones and deliverables.
- Guide and direct project team members to accomplish project goals.
- Utilize standardized PMO tools and frameworks to ensure project quality and alignment.
- Identify weaknesses in project execution and recommend changes to improve performance.
- Lead audit project assignment, scheduling, and review efforts.
- Monitor project milestones and take corrective actions to prevent schedule or quality issues.
- Track project metrics, manage changes, and ensure adherence to scope, budget, and quality targets.
- Provide feedback and performance evaluations for audit teams.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders and vendors.
Key Skills:
- Minimum 3 years of recent experience managing information security or compliance-focused projects.
- Solid understanding of NIST 800-53, IRS Pub 1075, and other compliance standards.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field with 3+ years of IT project management experience.
- PMP certification (or equivalent) is required (must provide proof).
- Advanced user of MS Project, MS Visio, SharePoint 2013, and Microsoft O365 tools.
- Experience leading/coordinating vendor-managed or audit projects.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills suitable for executive audiences.
- Experience in state government, health and human services, or eligibility systems is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with outsourced environments and related challenges.
- Master's degree in a related field or security certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISA) is preferred.
- Experience managing projects in public sector or health and human services environments is preferred.
